Prayer of a Godly Woman

Father, as a woman of God, I declare that I am a capable, intelligent and virtuous woman.  I am far more precious than jewels and my value is far above rubies or pearls.

The heart of my husband trusts in me confidently, relies on and believes in me safely.

I comfort, encourage and do my husband only good as long as there is life within me.

I am like a merchant’s ship, loaded with foodstuffs; I bring my household good from a far country.

I rise while it is yet night and get spiritual food for my household, and assign my maids their tasks.

I consider a new field before I buy or accept it, expanding prudently, not courting neglect of my present duties by assuming others.

With my savings of time and strength, I plant fruitful vines in my vineyard.

I gird myself with spiritual, mental and physical strength for my God given tasks, and I make my arms strong and firm.

I taste and see that my gain from work is good.

My lamp does not go out but it burns on continually through the night, warning away fear, doubt and distrust.

I open my hands to the poor; I reach out my filled hands to the needy, whether in spirit, soul or body.

I fear not the snow for my household, for all of my family is doubly clothed in scarlet.

I make for myself coverlets, cushions and rugs of tapestry.  My clothing is of fine linen, pure white and fine, and of purple, such as that which the clothing of the priests and the hallowed cloths of the temple were made.

My husband is known in the city gate, and he also sits among the elders of the land.

Strength and dignity are my clothing, and my position is strong and secure.

Because I am strong, I therefore have power of resistance;   I am not easily broken, or torn, or injured, or captured;  I am tough, healthy, solid firm, not pliable, able to overcome, vigorous;  I am capable of exerting great force or do much;  I am muscular, powerful, able, qualified, convincing, striking, energetic, effective, decided, able to influence and supportive.

Because dignity is my clothing, I am therefore a woman of true worth, of excellence, of high esteem, honorable, elevated, stately and respected.

I rejoice over the future knowing that my family and I are ready for it.

I open my mouth with skillful and Godly wisdom; in my tongue is the law of kindness, giving counsel and instruction.

I look well to how things go in my household, and the bread of idleness, gossip, discontent and self-pity, I do not eat.

My children rise up and call me blessed, happy, fortunate and to be envied.

My husband boasts of me and praises me saying:  “Many daughters have done virtuously, nobly and well, with the strength of character that is steadfast in goodness, but you excel them all.”

Because I am a woman who reverently and worshipfully fears the Lord, I am being praised.

My own works praise me in the gates of the city.

I am beautiful and prosperous, to be thought of as a crown of glory and honor in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem, exceedingly beautiful in the hand of my God.

My renown goes forth among the nations for my beauty, for it is perfect through God’s majesty and splendor, which He has put upon me.

I am blessed and favored of God among all other women, and blessed is the fruit of my womb.

My husband continually observes the pure and modest way in which I conduct myself.

I am submissive to my own husband, I respect him, revere him, honor him, esteem, appreciate and prize him, and in the human sense, adore him.

I admire him, praise him, and am devoted to him;  I deeply love my husband and enjoy him fully.

My husband is blessed by the inward adorning, and beauty of my inner man, which is of an incorruptible and unfading charm, and of a gentle and peaceful spirit.

Father, I give you thanks for making me part of this great army of women who are now proclaiming boldly the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
