Dorothy's Note

First of all I guess I need to say thank you.  I was extremely suicidal the night I found your web site and I was on the verge of calling a crisis line or heading to the hospital.  I don't know why I tried the computer instead, but I did.  I've been to most of the suicide prevention web sites so I really didn't expect to find anything different; but I found your's.  I'd never been there before.

Somehow on looking through your web site I found the page with Psalm 23 where you say to Start saying it bravely, in the midst of the turmoil in your mind. Run to God by running to His Word, and quote it out loud. God will help you. Keep saying this Psalm until somebody finds you or you contact somebody somehow.

You know even with how depressed I was I had to laugh because that was one of my favorite Psalms (well not that exact version).  I've hung around alot of Marines and Navy Seals and they have their own version.  But it made me smile.  And I did keep saying it over and over and eventually outloud.  And it did calm me down.

I then found the cards where you list verses to memorize and was immediately drawn to 1 Peter 5:10.  I even wound up praying that night.

This is all very unusual for me because for the past year or so I have been on the outs with God.  I believe in him; but I believe I am here for him to punish - that he loves others, but not me.  So it was unusual for reading scripture to actually calm me down.  It also enabled me to write to my sister-in-law (a very strong christian) and ask her aid in praying for me.

I don't know where I am going to go with this, I feel like God and I have a truce right now.

But I wanted to let you know that you did help me that night.

thank you.  di
