Basic Principles of Faith

1) Based on Hebrews 11:6, we see that God responds to faith. (Rarely does He respond to need.)
Hebrews 11:6 - And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to
Him must believe that He exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek Him.

2) Based on Romans 10:17, faith must be developed. (It doesn't come naturally.) And it comes from
hearing God's Word.
Romans 10:17 - So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

3) Based on James 2:26, faith must be demonstrated. (Belief + Action = Faith)
James 2:26 - As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

4) Based on Hebrews 10:35,36, faith must be patient. (Time + Total Confidence in God =True Bible
Faith)
Hebrews 10:35,36 - So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.

5) Based on 2 Corinthians 5:7, we don’t judge how difficult a problem is to resolve by how we feel or what it looks like.
2 Corinthians 5:7 - For we walk by faith and not by sight.

6) Based on Mark 11:24, when we pray for a specific thing we ask for it only once believing that
God hears us the first time when we ask for things, and that our answer is on the way. (We don’t
waste time asking for the same thing over and over. Doing that, nullifies the faith we used the first
time we prayed.) Rather than praying a prayer of request over and over, make your subsequent
prayers, prayers of thanks. Thank God that he heard your prayer, and let him know that you plan
on standing on this belief until you see the manifestation of your request. Be like a pit bull with
its jaws locked on it's prey. Don't let go until you see your answer! That's faith.
Mark 11:24 - Therefore I say unto you, What things soever you desire, when you pray, believe you have received them and you shall have them.

7) Again, based on
Mark 11:24, above, we believe we have received the thing we have asked for
even before we actually have it, and we act that way.

8) Based on Philippians 4:13, we believe we can do all the things that life calls upon us to do,
knowing that God is with us, empowering us as we go.
Philippians 4:13 - For I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me.

9) Based on 1 Timothy 6:12, maintaining and developing your faith is a battle. Our faith will constantly be tried by the circumstances of life, but can be easily conquered by the truths found in God's Word.
1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith.

(Why is it called a 'good' fight? Because we always win!)

These principles may seem too hard to make real in your life, but it is not. Developing your faith simply takes time and focus. It happens like osmosis. The more you steep yourself in God's Word, the more it becomes real to you until you are in complete control in whatever circumstances you find yourself. And that is what true freedom is.
